Daily Mail: Roughly 12 million households across Britain will host a barbeque party during FIFA World Cup
Roughly 12 million households across Britain will host a barbeque party during this year's FIFA World Cup as 60% claim it brings people closer together
An estimated 12 million households across Britain are expected to host a barbeque during this summer's FIFA World Cup.

Nearly a third of homeowners are expected to invite family, friends and neighbours over to enjoy a meal outdoors, as 60 per cent of Britons believe eating outdoors brings family and friends closer.

A new study by garden suppliers Kettler also found that 70 per cent of Britons also prefer lounging in their gardens as opposed to tending to it.
Outdoor dining and entertaining is now the UK's number one summer home activity with three in four households owning some type of BBQ grill.

Studies show Britons hold four times as many BBQs as ten years ago and developers say an outdoor patio area is considered more of an asset when selling a home than a garden.
Kettler also found that more than 70 per cent of Britons want a stylish outdoor space with garden furniture, as opposed to just 45 per cent who want a well-designed garden.

The garden firm, who sell the Everure by Heston Blumenthal range, said that comfortable chairs, cushions, and a good barbeque were all key to a successful party.

A spokesman for Kettler said: 'Choose your tools wisely and make sure you have everything, from fuel for the BBQ, whether it is gas or charcoal, to tongs to turn food, close at hand before you start cooking.

'The Everdure range has a BBQ to suit everyone, with customers choosing from both charcoal and gas, they're sure to get the flavours their taste buds desire.'

They also urged party organisers to prepare before their guests arrived.

A Kettler spokesman added: 'Arrange before-hand for someone else to share the cooking part way through the day so you get chance to circulate and chat to guests, as well as sample the food.'

Paul Bevington, Managing Director at Kettler said: 'As the weather warms up now is the perfect opportunity to enjoy quality time alfresco with family and friends.'
